PLEASE if you are reading this and think, oh, well, I don't know... YOU DO. I always love to get advice from other mommies all the time. I figure they are the experts, they have been there, done that, and most likely MULTIPLE times. They have figured out what works, what doesn't work. So, please any advice would be SO greatly appreciated! I have heard, just wait until they are ready and I'm starting to get anxious as she is approaching 3 next month!!
Here is what we have done:
-I made her a potty treat jar and when she went to the bathroom she could have a treat (well, she's just not that interested in the treats and they sit on the dresser untouched ( well, i did catch Jason in the potty jar a few times! )
- She's obsessed with princesses! So we got all these stickers and every time she goes, she gets a sticker to place on her paper and when she gets it all filled up she can go to DISNEYLAND! Yea, are we crazy or what? She's super excited and knows what she needs to do... but she goes sometimes and not very consistent at all!
-we've gotten books from the library and read them about potty stuff...
So, just wondering am I on the right track? I even bought her panties (princess ones) and she knows when she goes consistently she can WEAR them. Should I just put them on her and she'll learn REALLY quickly that the potty is essential for keeping clean? I think that is my next move! My home teacher came over and he has raised 7 kids and his advice to me was... 'I've never seen a 6 year old come to class in diapers'! He teaches school and assures me that it will happen!

Hey Emily...although Avery is not potty trained yet everyone I have talked to says just put them in panties, not go anywhere and clean up messes for about two weeks. They will not like the feeling of being wet and will learn.
If Jade likes Elmo, he has a potty movie that Macey loves! (but she likes Elmo alot). That's all I've got. We've just started, so I can't wait to hear how it goes for you. :)
Good Luck!
Set a day a couple weeks away when you are going to "throw away" all of her diapers(put in a plastic bag and save for Grace) and she will only be able to wear underwear. Make a big deal about this special day coming up. For about 3-4 days you need to be home and making Jade drink anything and everything she likes to give her plenty of opportunities to use the bathroom. You will do a ton of laundry and clean up, but by day three she'll be on a roll. Seriously, we've done this and it really works! After you throw away her diapers though, YOU CANNOT GO BACK!! You have to be 100% committed. Happy Training!!
too funny, this entry was awesome...no idea haven't been there yet, but i'm glad i get to learn from all these comments! :)
Ada was the same way. We tried everything under the sun. We gave our last few diapers to a friend that was still "a baby" and then we went cold turkey. Yeah you have to clean up a lot but she'll catch on! She's a smart girl!
WOW! You guys are FABULOUS! THANKS SOOOOO MUCH! ... moms are the BEST! :-)
never gone through this yet, but my next move would be to go cold turkey, and tell jade that if she pee's on the floor, she needs to clean it up.
LoVe you new blog back ground by the way!!!
Looks like you already have a lot of good advice! All we had to bribe Beau with was a trip to Chuck-E-Cheese's, so Disneyland sounds much better! With Beau we just went cold turkey-no diapers at all and it worked really well. He had about one day of accidents, but did great from then on. Good luck!
